California Confidential - Final Cut

Here is our final media product, edited and completed to a high standard. We took on board all feedback we received from the rough cut and applied it to our final cut. Our film fits common conventions of a film noir movie, ranging from the plot to the mise en scene.

Logo - First Attempt

This is our first attempt at our logo for California Confidential. The logo was specifically designed to take on a James Bond theme however, we feel this is too modern for a 1940's noir film. A second attempt will be made to tone down the modern feeling and some other effects will be added so that the logo does not look too bland and dull.

Recce Shots and Test Footage

This video shows recce shots and test footage for our film. We had to record our film twice due to bad weather. So we used the footage from the first attempt at recording as test footage and also used it to expand on any of the shots and how to improve them.

Rough Cut

Feedback
We received feedback that was rather positive yet some aspects needed changing such as: the black and white filter needed to be completed, some of the voices were cut out and parts of speech were lost. Also, some cars were visible in the background which slightly ruins the appeal of a noir film. The introduction was a little drab and no music was audible which makes the scenes seem a little lifeless.
The camera shots used were clean and varied which conforms to the mark scheme. Also, the use of different angles to portray meaning of the scene were understood by the viewing audience.

However, the scene's appeared to be a little rushed and some a little un-coordinated due to some actors not appearing to be focused on the scene by looking at the floor, looking into the distance.

These parts of the rough cut will be changed within the editing process and the final edit will be posted on the 21st March.
